The wine estate Donnafugata is located in Marsala, Sicily. The same family has been working for 150 years in the production of these quality wines. Giacomo Rallo, the forth-generation child of the oldest Sicilian family engaged in viniculture has created a modern wine estate. Donnafugata ‘s vineyards and cellars are located on the Belice hills in the Contessa Entellina area and also on the island of Pantelleria. Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, has more vineyards than any other region in Italy!

ITINERARY
DAY 1. Accomodations in 3* (4* or 5*) hotel in Erice, the Medieval pearl of the Western Coast of Sicily. Afternoon free to discover the hidden treasures,of this charming village
DAY 2. Tour in Marsala of Donnafugata’s wine estate followed by lunch and dégustation of splendid wines including LIGHEA, named in honor of the amazing siren, protagonist of the famous story written by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, LA FUGA, Contessa Entellina’s Hills provide fantastic Chardonnay grapes, MILLE e UNA NOTTE, or "1001 Nights" is at the top of world esteemed reds. Donnafugata, translates "Donna the fugitive," and is taken from Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel "Il Gattopardo" (The Leopard). Many may remember the magnificent film directed by Luchino Visconti, with Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon and Claudia Cardinale ! The Rallo’s vineyards and cellars are located on the Belice Hills in Contessa Entellina and formed the setting for Il "Gattopardo". Nero d’Avola, the primary grape of the "Mille e Una Notte" is a native grape desired by Sicilian winemakers for its body, its ageing potential and its affinity for barrel maturation when grown at lower yields, forms the base for fragrant, deeply colored wines. Afternoon excursion to the Greek Theater and Temple of Segesta.
DAY3. Morning departure for Island of Pantelleria – tour of island and dégustation of PASSITO di PANTELLERIA, wine made from the must of very well ripened grapes, to which naturally dried grapes are added in the sunny and windy climate of the island. Free time for exploration and shopping
DAY 4. Excursion to Menfi, to visit the Barbera Family’s winery – tour and dégustation.Excursion to Mozia,a tiny island just off the coast north of Marsala provides the visitor with rare unspoiled glimpses into Phoenician past and quite interesting windmills and salt mines along the canals.
